April Halley Seligman

Associate Marriage &
Family Therapist

Gestalt practitioner, psychotherapist, family counselor, and educator.

I am interested in helping you discover how what you've learned in the past is keeping you from getting what you want and what's available to you in the present. I hope to support you in relating more skillfully to others to create more satisfying relationships in your life -- to minimize reactivity and maximize response-ability. Whether those relationships are with your family, your partner, your colleagues, or within yourself, I am available to support self-reflection, to help facilitate dialogue, and to support clear and responsible communication.

Areas of Practice

Psychotherapy, Family Counseling,
Group Process, and Social/Emotional Learning.

I am passionate about helping people communicate skillfully with one another and encouraging people to find ways of relating that create more contact and intimacy as opposed to distance or suffering. I work with parents and children, family units, and individuals to discover their wants and needs in any moment and to communicate those clearly to the people in their lives. I enjoy supporting parents through the ups and downs of day-to-day parenting so that they can go home to inspire their families to relate in healthy ways and avoid old patterns that keep them stuck.

When working with clients -- either adults or children, individuals or groups -- I use a systems approach, looking at how the individual/group interacts with the larger systems in which they live their lives as well as the impact of those systems on the individual or group.
